Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccinations

Seasonal flu vaccinations are recommended by the World Health Organisation for those aged over 65 years and those in at-risk groups such as patients with certain chronic diseases, respiratory disease, diabetes mellitus, carers and healthcare workers.

The surgery holds flu vaccination clinics for our patients in the early Autumn each year and this service is free of charge for those with medical cards.  Each clinic is run on a walk-in basis, so no appointment is necessary.

The pneumonia vaccine may also be recommended by the doctor if you are over 65 years or in an at-risk group.  Unlike the flu vaccination, this is usually not required on an annual basis and the doctor will advise as appropriate at your appointment.

Further information about the influenza and pneumococcal vaccination campaign, is also available on the National Immunisation website www.immunisation.ie.

Walk-in Flu Clinics will be held on Wednesdays from 10:30am to 12pm at Haven Bay Surgery and Tuesdays from 2:30pm to 4:00pm at Market Place Surgery (no appointment necessary) during month of October.
